Only Women Bleed – Faces of Feminine Jazz, Rock & Pop

"We liked working with Susanne. She brought in many own ideas, especially with the composition of the fine-tuned supporting program, for which she invited female musicians to play in the exhibition room. Like this, a broader audience could be attracted." Katharina Koch, CEO Galeria Futura, Berlin,

With his 1975 song, Alice Cooper drew attention to women suffering from domestic violence.

One of these women was Tina Turner, who sang this song and had to flee from her violent husband Ike. Etta James also sang Alice’s song and she was abused by her singing teacher and by her step father from early childhood on.

This exhibition looks at the women behind the icons, who – because they were confronted with sexism, racism or abuse – developed a tremendous radiance and energy. What unites all these women is their inspiring strength, presence and attitude to never give up.

Blessed as I am, I had the support of three wonderful women performing at my vernissage and finissage.
